Hello Friend Handmade Card using the Scrappy Strip Mosaic Technique

 Good Afternoon Everyone,

This week in the Stampin Birds Team Group our challenge is to CASE a Stampin Up Demo. Now there are soooo many to chose from for me as I get so much inspiration from a variety of different  Demonstrators throughout the World, but I did find myslef heading todays the Bertucci's. I love the style and simplicity of the projects, but they always look super stunning and WOW.

Today's card is no exception. This is a further development of the Scrappy Strip Technique  - which is a firm favourite of mine. And actually this Mosaic style addtion was original done by Linda Driggs - so I'm technically CASEing Kylie, CASEing Linda!

If you are unfamiliar with the Scrappy Strip Technique - it's really simple cut scrap strips of cardstock so it has a straight edge and a diagonal edge then piece together onto your card and it makes the most fabulous background. This next step means slicing that panel you made and creating smaller pieces so it looks like tiny pieces of cardstock on the card.

This is the card I created....

And this is the card I saw Kylie make.....

Basic White Card Stock

Strips of Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Pacific Point and Pumpkin Pie

------------------------

With the larger piece of basic black card stock, fold along the score line to create your card base. Add the basic white panel to the inside.

Take a selection of strips of card stock and cut then diagonally to create two pieces which have one straigh edge and one diagonal line, but don't cut to a point. You want your pieces to narrow towards one edge but not to a point as that would make that side too skinny.

Add these to the larger piece of basic black that is left alternating the pieces and lining them up so they have a thin black line between them. trim the bits that overhang so its flush with the base. Make sure you add plenty of glue to all the card stock.

Once the glue has dried cut this panel into thin strips. I did them approx 1/2" but you can do whatever size you prefer - or a mix of widths.

Now, take these pieces and add the the last piece of basic black card stock. ensuring that a small gap is left in between them. this gives the effect of the small indivial mosaic pieces. Now I chose to keep my colours in a straighter line, horizontally, but as you can see from Kylie's she has moved the strips up and down to mix the colours so they look a lot more random. Trim down any overhanging pieces.

On a scrap of basic black stamp Hello and Friend from the Biggest Wish stamp set in versamark ink, then sprinkle with the white embossing powder, tap off the excess and heat set with your heat tool.

Once cooled, fussy cut, add black dimensionals to the back and add to the centre of the card front.
