Creative Colour Challenges - #116

 Good Evening Everyone,

Happy Sunday! I hope you have all had a fabulous Weekend and are ready for a great week ahead.

As you may or may not know - I run the Creative Colour Challenges blog. Each week three Stampin Up Colours are randomly selected and I ask you to create a projects using those colours! Some week's are easier than others - but what I do find is that there's a lot of inspiration given from those who participate, so I thought that on a Sunday, once I have announced the Winner of the Week's Challenge over on Creative Colour Challenges Blog, I'd hop on over here and share the entries with you in the hope that we can give everyone some more inspiration, and I will link to those I can (as anyone can enter, you don't have to have a blog or a website), so It's also my chance to share there work and show some support.

I do hope to continue this as long as possible, with the entry numbers as they are now, this is something I'm happy to work on, but if by some amazing force,  the numbers grow in strength I may have to reassess how I do this!

Enchanted Butterfly Birthday Card. CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge - #526

 Good Morning Everyone,

Happy Friday!

Today I'm taking part in the current CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #526 which is a great sketch layout. This is very simple, but has so so much scope to create with - I'm definitely going to use this again in some future creations.

I wanted to create a pretty Monotone card and picked Fresh Freesia - not a colour I use often, I'll admit I absolutely love how this turned out.

Measurements

Fresh Freesia Card Stock

1pc - 5 7/8" x 8 1/4", scored at 4 1/8"

3pc - 1" x 2 3/4"

Basic White Card Stock

2pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8"

1pc - 3 1/4" x 7/8"

1pc - scrap

----------------------------------------

Take your Fresh Freesia card stock and fold along the score line to create your card base, adding one piece of Basic White to the card front, and the other piece to the inside.

Lay the three piece of Fresh Freesia into the centre of the card front. positioning then about 1/8" apart.

Stamp the sentiment from Charming Sentiments stamp set in Memento black ink on the 7/8" strip of Basic White. Add this to the card front over the three card stock strips with dimensionals, leaving a bit of the strips showing beneath it.

On a scrap of basic white stamp the butterfly image from Enchanted Butterfly stamp set. Clean off the stamp well, then flip it over adhering the detailed side to the block and ink up the solid side in Fresh Freesia and 'colour' in the butterfly. Fussy cut and add to the centre fresh freesia strip with a dimensional.

How easy was that? This sketch layout is fabulous and the card I've designed would look great in different colours, or with a different sentiment.

Do head over to the CAS Colours & Sketches Blog - you will find lots of inspiration over there for this particular challenge - along with past challenges too.

Biggest Wish Paper Weave Hello Card. CAS Colours & Sketches #525 - Colours

 Good Morning Everyone,

Happy Monday.

Today I'm taking part in the current CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge - #525 and this one is a colour challenge.

We were given  Boho Blue, Real Red and Mossy Meadow. I love how these three colours work together, and decided on the simplest design by using scrap strips of card stock weaved together in one corner for my Hello card.

This is a great card to send to anyone to say 'Hello', who doesn't like busy or fussy designs, there's no flowers or imagery so it's very simple - you could easily use the technique with other colours or patterned paper to get lots of different results

Measurements

Thick Basic White Card Stock

1pc - 5 7/8" x 8 1/4", scored at 4 1/8"

Basic White card Stock

1pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8"

Boho Blue Card Stock

2pc - 1/4" x 6 1/2" approx

Real Red Card Stock

2pc - 1/4" x 6 1/2" approx

Mossy Meadow Card Stock

2pc - 1 /4" x 6 1/2" approx

--------------------------------------------------

Take the Thick Basic White card stock and fold along the score line to create your card base, pop to one side for now.

Lay the Basic White piece in front of you and then position three strips of card (one of each colour) vertical to the left. Then Lay the remaining three horizontally. Now take the strips and weave then together.  I used the Basic White as a guide to where to start weaving and to make sure that the strips would all fit correctly onto it later

Over - Under - Over // Under - Over - Under // Over - Under - Over

Make sure you have got the strips alternating over and under across the whole section and when you are happy, gently lift up the strips and pop a little glue to adhere then together. Take you time to make sure that the strips stay evenly spaced.

Now glue this whole piece down onto the Basic white piece. Trim off any excess overhanging strips.

Ink up the sentiment from Biggest Wish in Mossy Meadow ink and stamp in the bottom right of the card.

Adhere this panel to your card front.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today - I love playing around with the Weave Technique. Do head on over to  CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge blog to take a look at all the inspiration for this colour combo from both the Design Team and other entries.
