What A Year Happy Birthday Card Graceful Tiles. Creative Colour Challenges - #CCC52

 Good Afternoon Everyone

I hope you are all well. Apologies for the lateness of this particular project this week. I'll be honest, I've fallen a bit behind with my crafting - we have one daughter starting Nursery & one Playschool in the next couple of weeks, so we have been preparing for that, along with Birthdays and Weddings and general life things - My craft time has unfortunately dropped significantly. But the good news is that I am back on it - we have pretty much everything sorted elsewhere so I'm on a straight edge with all that - Proper crafting can commence.

So, enough of my babbling and on with the project.

This weeks Creative Colour Challenges combination is fabulous and I really wanted to push myself to create a project which was quite unique and a bit quirky - pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

I've used a lot of ink blending and strips of stamping to build a bold background behind a very simple sentiment.

What do you think?

Measurements

Bermuda Bay Card Stock

1pc - 5 7/8" x 8 1/4", scored at 4 1/8"

Basic White Card Stock

1pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8"

1pc - 3 3/4" x 5 1/2"

Scraps

----------------------

Take the Bermuda Bay Card Stock and fold along the score line to create your card base. Add the larger piece of basic white to the inside.

Using your blending brushes add some Cherry Cobbler ink and Bermuda Bay ink to the edges of the remaining piece of Basic White. Holding the card landscape - add Cherry Cobbler towards the left and Bermuda Bay to the right, carefully blending then together where they meet.

Add this panel to the card front.

Take a decent sized scrap of Basic White and stamp a selection of the decorative images from Graceful Tiles. Once it's been filled and looks a little like DSP, cut it into strips  - this doesn't have to be exact, but keep them between 3/4" and 1" wide and no longer than 3 3/4". Add ink to all the edges of the strips using all the three colours.

Once the ink has dried, adhere these to the card front along the inked panel slightly wonky and overlapping, alternating the pieces based on the sponged edge colour.

Stamp the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler ink onto a scrap of Basic white and trim down, then one a scrap of basic white add some Cherry Cobbler and Bermuda bay ink to replicate the first panel you created. Adhere the sentiment onto the top of this and trim to show a nice even border.

Add this to the centre of the card with dimensionals.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today. If you would like more information about how Creative Colour Challenges works and to enter a projects - head over to my blog Creative Colour Challenges

Simple Thank You Note Cards using Hand Penned Petals. Stampin' Bird Showcase Blog Hop. August 2022

 Good Morning Everyone

Happy Saturday! I hope you all have some fabulous plans for the weekend ahead. Today me & Dave are going to the Wedding of one of his oldest friends. We are so excited and I can't wait to celebrate such a wonderful occasion with everyone.

But, before that fun begins - take a look at today's project! It's that time of the month for the Stampin' Birds Team Hop. We don't have a set theme for our hops, we just get to share projects we have made with out Stampin Up Stash.

As you may, or may not know - I love to batch my cards and I especially like to have Thank You cards ready for the off and a moments notice as I sent them ALL the time. So today I'm sharing a batch of cards I made really quickly and easily using the Hand Penned Petals Stamp Set.

This stamp set makes it so easy to create gorgeous cards in minutes. I sat and I cut all my base, mats and strips. Then did all the outline stamping, went back and filled in with solid images the did all the sticking. Working like this is really efficient and makes to best use of your time if you are batching.

What do you think?

Measurements - Per Card

Basic White Card Stock

1pc - 4" x 8", scored at 4"

1pc - 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"

Tahitian Tide Card Stock

2pc - 3 1/4" x 3/4" approx

------------------------------------------

Take the 4" x 8" card and fold along the score line to create your card base.

On the remaining piece of Basic white stamp the image and sentiment in memento ink. I positioned both of my pieces onto a block and stamped them both at the same time - this also sped up the process. I worked with a large block, but the stamparatus could make even lighter work of the process.

Once the ink dries, 'colour' in the flowers and leaves using the solid stamps. Now, this set is specifically designed to be quite 'whimsy' and as the name suggests a little 'free hand' so the solid images do not sit perfectly or cover the images fully but you can line them up a bit. I add So Saffron to the centre of my flowers with my Stampin Blends.

Add the strip of Tahitian Tide card to either side of this piece, showing about 1/8" to maybe a 1/4" say. It doesn't have to be exact, but do try to make them look even on each side.

Now add this to the card front.

This is a fabulous card as is, and works perfect for me to create quickly without losing charm and it's also flat enough to post - but you could really go to town and add some more layers and maybe some Rhinestones or Pearls for extra bling.

I hope you have enjoyed my quick and easy cards today. Please continue through the hop to see what all the other Birds have created today. Donna is up next, so click on the button below to head over to her blog

Rings Of Love 3D Medallion Decorated Gift Box. 3D Thursday

 Good Morning Everyone

Happy Thursday.

It's 3D Thursday and this week I've decided on a pretty simple project. I wanted to showcase this very beautiful medallion print that appears in our Rings of Love DSP - which is currently a FREE Saleabration reward. But you will have to be quick, it's only available until the end of August or whilst stock last!

I've gone with a traditional 3D decoupage layering technique - cutting out the image several times, but cutting away at more and more sections to get different sizes - layer these on top of each other over the under layer perfectly to match the pattern and Hey Presto! a really simple but very effective 3D element or your project. The box measures 4" x 4" x 1" so a really good size to fit all sorts in.

Measurements

Night of Navy Card Stock

1pc - 10 1/2" x 6 1/2"

Rings of Love DSP

Fussy Cut Medallions

------------------------------------------

Take the DSP medallions and cut around one piece fully, then look at the design and cut a shape slightly smaller, keep going until your last one is the small circle in the centre - I chose to do 5. here's what they look like

Add these all together with Dimensionals to create a 3D element.

Now to create the gift box. Take you piece of Night of Navy Cardstock and score as follows:-
Long Side - 1", 5",  6" & 10"
Short Side - 1/2", 1" & 5 1/2"

Fold along all the score lines and burnish well so you have a piece that looks like this ( I have done this again in Pumpkin Pie as you could not see any lines on the night of navy piece I used for my project)

You need to start cutting away at the card to create the flaps and remove some sections. Have the cardstock in front of you as above.

  • Remove the first three sections along to top line from the left and the thin one on the end, then notch in slightly on the remaining large rectangle
  • On the next row down, cut down all the score lines to the next horizontal. remove the small rectangle one on the right hand side completely. Trim off a small piece of card from the top of the two squares and notch slightly. Remove the large rectangle in between these squares completely.
  • cut up all the score lines along the bottom of the card to the first horizontal, and remove the rectangle on the right completely. You will be left with a shape like this.

Add tear and tape to the under side of  the skinny rectangular tab on the right hand side and fold it round and adhere to the opposite side. at the bottom, fold in the sides, back and then adhere the front panel down to create your base.

Now add the embellishment to the front of the box.

I didn't feel it needed anything else super duper fancy, as I didn't want to detract from the beautiful 3D embellishment I had created. You could quite easily add some DSP to the side and top or even pop on a little sentiment somewhere - but I really didn't feel it necessary.

I hope you have enjoyed my project today, please take a look at the link below and check out Donn'a 3D project for today
