Beautiful Birthday Wishes Card Using Faux Metal Embellishments. Technique Squad Blog Hop. February 2022

 Good Afternoon Everyone

Today I'm taking part in the Technique Squad Blog hop and this month we are creating Faux Metal. This is a fabulous technique and you can create some really amazing things.

I decided to make some lovely faux gold metal embellishments using scraps of card stock and lots of heat embossing. It's a really simple way to get the effect and how amazing do they look on my card...

Measurements

Cinnamon Cider Card Stock

1pc - 5 7/8"x 8 1/4", scored at 4 1/8"

Misty Moonlight Card Stock

Scrap

Soft Suede Card Stock

Basic White Card Stock

Heart & Home DSP

1pc - 3/4" x 3 7/8"

1pc - 3 1/4" x 5 1/4"

------------------------------

First, start by punching out some of the leaves from the Bough punch, you will need three of each. I used soft suede card just in case I missed a bit of embossing - it would blend in better, but any brownish tone would work. Glue the three pieces together one on top of each other. Also cut of one of the large dragonflies. Once dry, cover each piece with versamark ink - make sure it's a really generous coating and try and get it onto the sides as well. Sprinkle with gold embossing powder and heat set. Once cooled, repeat the process 3 or 4 times depending on how it looks - the more layers you add the smoother it becomes and helps give a good rounded finish.

Take the Cinnamon cider card stock and fold along the score line. Add the strip of DSP to the right hand side of the basic white piece and add this to the inside of the card.

Add the Misty Moonlight scraps behind the remaining DSP in opposite corners making sure you having even spacing. This gives a nice bit of interest to the card, without adding too much card stock.

Stamp the Sentiment from Garden Birdhouses stamp set onto a scrap if basic white in Misty Moonlight ink and then cut out using the largest circle from the Beautiful Shapes Dies. Add this to the centre of a misty moonlight Doily and place this in the centre of the card front with dimensionals.

Take the Faux Metal Dragonfly and add it to the left hand side, overlapping the doily slightly, the finally add the three faux metal leaves to the right hand side, tucking them under the doily.

I hope you have enjoyed the project today, and will have a go at faux metal embellishments yourself - but before you do please continue through the hop and see some more Faux Metal Inspiration. JoAnn is up next, click the next button below to head over to her blog
