Today I'm taking part in the Ink & Inspirations Blog Hop. It;s the first time I've joined in with this hop and I was so excited. We hop every month and alternate between Colour Inspiration or a Sketch for our theme.
February is Colour Inspiration and we were given the most gorgeous colour palette along with some pretty flowers for some inspiration.
I decided to take out the Petal Park & Sentimental Park stamp sets and create a fun floral card. I've used a handful of scrap strips of card in some of the colours and stamped them to create an interesting background effect. I've used this principle a few times in the past, but every time it looks completely different. what do you think?

Basic White Card Stock

Fold the Orchid Oasis Card Stock along the score line to create your card base, then add the larger piece of Basic White card stock to the inside of the card.
Take the 1 1/2" x 3 3/4" and stamp the small cluster of flowers all over each piece in the same colour ink as the card. This gives a nice tone on tone effect and makes the strips of card a little more interesting. Add these strips to the card front positioning them all wonky to create more interest. I love how it's so easy to make such a fun background.
On the remaining piece of Basic White card stamp the leaf image outline in Parakeet Party ink and then use the solid in fill stamp to colour in the leaves. I used 2nd Generation stamping (stamped off first) to get a slightly lighter shade.
Stamp the sentiment in Orchid Oasis into the bottom left hand corner.
Layer this to the Orchid Oasis Card you have left and add to the centre of the card front.
Ink up the three flower cluster and stamp twice with Fresh Freesia ink, add the colour to the petals with the solid image, colouring one cluster with Lemon Lolly and one with Bubble Bath. Cut these out using the punch

Petal Park was a great choice for this card. I love the soft pastels in the front and the rich Orchis Oasis holding everything together in the back.
