Good Afternoon Everyone,
Today I'm taking part in the Smart Stampin International Facebook Hop and our theme is Valentines.
I dusted off my Country Bouquet stamp set, which i'm embarrassed to admit has been a little neglected of late - but it's perfect as it has the most wonderful floral heart image and lovely valentines sentiments. I added some of the Softly Stippled DSP for a little texture on my card
The stable fold is so easy to create, but makes the card look extra special.
What do you think?
Measurements
Real Red Card Stock

1pc - 2 7/8" x 2 3/4"
Basic White Card Stock
1pc - 2 3/4" x 5 5/8"
2pc - 2 1/4" x 5 5/8"
Softly Stippled DSP
1pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8"
1pc - 2 1/4 x 5 5/8"
------------------------------------------
Take your Basic Black card stock and mark at 1 3/4" a small pencil dot on the score line, and one at the right hand side, again at 1 3/4". Pop this into your trimmer and cut down to the 1 3/4" mark on the score line, then rotate the card stock so that the cut line is to your left and cut down to the score line from the 1 3/4" pencil mark. You could do this by eye without marking, but I have a tendency to get a bit giddy and overcut! haha.
It should look like this once you have made the cuts.
This should free up a panel of card stock ( which you can save for another project) and leave you a 'stable door' card front. Fold and burnish this piece, keeping the score line to the left as you would a standard card base.
Glue down the 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" piece of DSP to the back panel which is the inside of the card. Then add a 2 1/4" piece of Basic White along the bottom of this. Make sure that the bottom edge and sides match up with the DSP below.
Add the 2 1/4" piece of DSP to the outside of the 'door' and the Basic white piece to the inside of the 'door'
On the remaining piece of Basic White stamp the Heart from Country Bouquet. I love this image as it comes in two parts. You get one stamp with the leaves and one stamp with the flowers and hearts so when you stamp the directly over one another you create a full heart shape. I used Garden Green and Real Red inks. Layer this to the remaining piece of Real Red card stock.
Close the card base and figure out where your heart image will sit. Try to get it a centred as possible, the add dimensionals to the back of this piece, but only to the section that will sit on the 'door'. If you place then too high up, you will end up gluing your card shut.
Lay you card flat in front of you closed. Ink up the Sentiments in real red and add the 'Just wanted to say...' above the Heart on the back panel and the 'Happy Valentine's Day' below the heart on the 'door'.
Then open the card and add 'I Love You' to the centre of the Basic White Piece which you glued to the DSP panel.
I love how when the card is closed it reads 'Just wanted to say... Happy Valentine's Day', then when opened it read 'Just wanted to say... I Love You'. I think it's a perfect design for a simple and non fussy Valentines Card.
