Good Evening Everyone,
Today I'm taking part in Inspire.Create.Challenges #151 and we have a sketch layout to work with.
Sketch layouts are a great way to give you some focus to guide your creating - I often use them if I'm struggling with my mojo - it can really help kick start the creative flow. I absolutely love this layout, it's pretty simple and there's so much scope and opportunity!
I decided to stick closely to the layout and I really liked the look of it, I did change up the proportions and sizes of the DSP pieces, but that's the beauty of a sketch isn't it, use it as a guide!
This is the layout we were given to work with...
Measurements
Lost Lagoon Cardstock
1pc - 5 7/8" x 8 1/4", scored at 4 1/8"
scraps
Very Vanilla Card Stock
1pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8"
scraps
Inked Botanicals DSP
1pc - 3 7/8" x 5 5/8"
1pc - 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"
1pc - 1 1/4" x 4"
1pc - 1 1/2" x 3"
--------------------------------------------
Fold the Lost Lagoon card stock along the score line to create your card base.
Ink up the edges of all the DSP pieces and the large piece of Very Vanilla. To get the straight even inked edge, I held the DSP/Card stock on its side and gently tapped it into the ink pad. This colours the edge and the ink gets added in a thin line along the edge.
Once the ink has dried add the Very Vanilla piece to the inside and the DSP to the card front, layering as per the sketch.
Cut out a couple of the leaves from the Bough Punch and Lost Lagoon scraps, add some Lost Lagoon ink to these with a blending brush, just roughly to add some depth.
On scraps of Very Vanilla, stamp the Outline of the Flower in Crushed Curry, adding the solid stamp inside in 2nd Generation (stamped off first). I then fussy cut this out staying close to the outline edge - you could use the coordinating dies instead if you prefer - but i liked the look of a flower without a very vanilla edge.
Also stamp the sentiment from Pansy Patch in Lost Lagoon onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock and fussy cut.
Adhere all these down to the card front, using both liquid glue and dimensionals. Finally add a few Rhinestones for a little bling.
I hope you have enjoyed my card today, I really enjoyed playing around with this sketch. Why not pop on over to Inspire.Create.Challenges to take a look at the Design Team projects and other entries for some inspiration, and maybe even enter a project yourself.
