Good Afternoon Everyone
Today I've made a card for this week's Creative Colour Challenges. I absolutely love playing around with bright bold colours, so this combination was right up my street.
I have used the brand new Circle Saying Stamp set, which is amazing!, to create a Stable Door fold. It's super simple in design, but the colours really do pop, especially against the black.
Measurements
Basic Black Card Stock
1pc - 4 1/8" x 11 3/4", scored at 5 7/8"
1pc - 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"
Daffodil Delight Card Stock
1pc - 2 1/2" x 2 1/2"
Basic White Card Stock
1pc - 2 1/2" x 5 5/8"
1pc - scrap
Poppy Parade Card Stock
1pc - 2 1/2" x 5 5/8"
Gorgeous Grape Card Stock
1pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8"
----------------------------------------------------------
Take your Basic Black card stock and mark at 1 1/2" a small pencil dot on the score line, and one at the right hand side, again at 1 1/2". Pop this into your trimmer and cut down to the 1 1/2" mark on the score line, then rotate the card stock so that the cut line is to your left and cut down to the score line from the 1 1/2" pencil mark. You could do this by eye without marking, but I have a tendency to get a bit giddy and overcut! haha.
This should free up a panel of card stock and leave you a 'stable door' card front. Fold and burnish this piece, keeping the score line to the left as you would a standard card base.
Take the cupcake image and ink it up in Gorgeous Grape then cover this whole piece with as many cupcakes a possible. Adhere this to the inside back of your card.
Add the Basic white piece to the inside of the 'door'
Now, ink up the Happy Birthday sentiment in Poppy Parade ink and cover the Poppy Parade card stock with it. This need to be adhere to the outside of the 'door' or front of the card.
Using your Gorgeous Grape ink again, stamp the Circular Celebrate sentiment into the centre of the Daffodil Delight Card Stock. Layer this to the Basic Black Square that's left and add to the card front. Make sure you take a look at your positioning first with a 'Dry run', then once happy add liquid glue to the bottom of the square - only to the section that will sit on the 'door' - if you go too high up, you run the risk of gluing your card shut!
On a scrap of Basic White stamp the cupcake image - once dry colour it in. I used my Stampin Blends along with a blender pen. I colour the icing un Poppy Parade and the top of the cupcake with Ivory. For the Case I followed the lines on the image and used my Daffodil Delight Stampin Blends and, as we don't have a Gorgeous Grape Blend, I used my Gorgeous Grape ink pad and a blender pen to apply the colour.
Fussy cut the cupcake and add to the card front, inside the circular sentiment with a dimensional.
I hope you have enjoyed my card today - it was so much fun playing around with these bold colours. If you would like more details on how the challenge works - or have a project to enter, pop along to my blog - Creative Colour Challenges
