Botanical Layers & Dragonfly Thank You Card. Creative Colour Challenges #CCC95

 Good Afternoon Everyone

Today I'm using this week's Creative Colour Challenges combo for my card. The mix of Mossy Meadow, Soft Sea Foam and Crumb Cake made me instantly think of an aged leafy design. I pulled out the Botanical Layers Stamp set and went to work.

I've used the 2 3/8" circle punch to create a mask to get a soft sea foam circle on the background and added a sweet little dragonfly for some dimension.

Measurements

1pc - 4 1/8" x 11 3/4", scored at 5 7/8"

Basic White Card Stock

3pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8"

--------------------------------------

Take the Mossy Meadow card stock and fold along the score line to create your card base. Add on of the Basic White pieces to the inside.

Using your 2 3/8" circle punch and cut a circle out of another piece of basic white. Bear in mind that you will be using the aperture to 'colour in' so try to leave as much white space around the open edge as possible - just means you get a bit of space to blend. I used a piece of card the same size as my stamping layer and tried to get it pretty central on the long side and towards to left. Doing it on the same size made it easy to line up if i needed to keep taking it away to check coverage.

Lay the open circle over the remaining piece of Basic White and using a blending brush and your Soft Sea Foam ink, build up a lovely soft circle of colour. I tried to keep it a bit lighter towards the centre.

Once you are happy with that circle in up one of the leaf images in Mossy Meadow ink and stamp to the left making sure you overlap into the circle. Then use the foliage image and stamp in the lower right with Crumb Cake ink.

Ink up the sentiment in Mossy Meadow and stamp, this time in the lower left of the card, close to the circle.

Colour the edges of the entire card piece with Crumb Cake ink, coming into the white space a little more on those opposite corners where there's not much going on.

Add this to the card front.

Using the Dragonflies punch - cut out three small dragonflies and layer then together only adding adhesive to the 'length of the body'. Add a run of Pearl Embellishments along the body, placing a larger one at the head.

Place this onto the card front over to the right of the circle.

I hope you have enjoyed my card today - I really enjoyed making it and it was fun to work with this colour combination. If you would like more details about how the challenge works, or have a project to enter, then pop on over to my blog Creative Colour Challenges
