Gathering Together Happy Birthday Gift Box

 Good Afternoon Everyone,

How you all doing? I've been busy today taking a look over my stash - seeing what I have and what's current, retiring and what I haven't used in a while.

I came across the Gathering Together DSP - which is currently on the Last Chance list - that I haven't even touched yet! Sometimes I get into a habit of sticking to creating with only a few sets and overlooking the rest of my stuff. So going forward I'm going to make a conscious effort to start spreading the love a little more!

I have this super cute gift box for you today, I made it to hold a hand cream, but at 4 1/2" x 1" x 1 3/4", I'm sure you could fit a variety of different goodies in there!!

Measurements

Crushed Curry Card Stock

1pc - 6" x 7"
1pc - scrap for sentiment

Basic White Card Stock
1pc - scrap

Gathering Together DSP
2pc - 4 3/8" x 1 5/8"
2pc - 4 3/8" x 7/8"
1pc - 7 /8" x 1 5/8"
plus a selection of fussy cut leaves

Put the card stock into your simply scored and on the long side score at 1", 5 1/2" & 6 1/2". Then on the short side at 1", 2 3/4", 3 3/4" & 5 1/2". Fold and burnish all the score lines using a bone folder.

Using your snips, cut away sections to create the shape below. Slightly angle the edges of the uppermost rectangle - this will be a closure tab and the slight notch with help it close smoother

Add the DSP panels to the cardstock, and below. TIP: to get you DSP pattern to follow all the way round, cut the DSP to 4 3/8" high. Then cut your sections in order - thick, thin, thick, thin. That way the pattern will continue all around the box. Also, if your DSP is Directional you will add all the four panels the right way up, then add the smaller piece upside down if looking at it like the picture below - once built it will flow right.

Add tear and tape to the tab on the left hand side, then adhere to the opposite side. Fold in the sides, back and adhere down the front flaps at the bottom to create the base. Close the box at the top by folding in the flaps and folding over the lid. Because you angled the corners, you should get an easy closure.

Finally stamp the sentiment in Crushed Curry Ink onto a scrap of Basic White and cut out using the Three Banner Punch. Take this banner and the fussy cut leaves and arrange in a cluster on the front.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial today - I loved creating it - and am slightly annoyed at myself for not cracking into this DSP sooner!!

Here's a list of all the supplies I used in today's project, click on the images to head over to my online store. Product List
